Moses

moses 1Moses, a man handpicked by God to show His mighty works. Whether you’re Muslims, Jewish, Christians, atheist or agnostic, you’ve heard the stories or seen the miracles in The Ten Commandments, starring Charleston Heston. Moses represents a man who sacrificed everything to free the Israelites under Egyptian rule.

moses 2Fast forward thousands of years, and there’s a new sheriff in town, this time a woman—Harriet Tubman. Again, with the help of God, see lead thousands of enslaved people to freedom. Fearless, she was nicknamed by some as Moses.

bishop collageThere’s one more Moses. Last month, I lost my pastor, Bishop James A. Johnson, who was a Moses among ministers, pastors and Bishops. His sole purpose was to lead sinners out of the snares of the slave master, the devil, and safety to Christ and heaven.  Being Moses is sometimes a thankless job: rebellious people, crazy people and even some decoy mixed in, but Bishop was consistent with his message for 65 years as pastor of Bethesda Temple Church. One passage of Scripture comes to mind. 2 Timothy 4: 1-4: I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.  So I accept the charge, to continue representing Christ in my work, for there is no other way.

Until next time,

Pat
